Analysis of the magazine Brit Asian

The genre of this magazine is Bhangra, yet includes British music. We know this because the title relates back to the Asian culture for the word "Asian", however has the word "Brit" in front of it showing that the magazines includes a variety of both British and Asian music.  The target audience of this magazine is aimed at people who enjoy listening to Bhangra and British music, therefore having a wider target audience, but is mainly teenagers to the age of mid 20's. The main image also shows this because young girls admire Jay Sean and young boys may aspire to be like him. Also, he started out as a Bhangra singer, however is now associated with artists such as Lil Wayne, showing he is diverse.

The main image is of Jay Sean, a famous r n b/ Bhangra artist. As he is on the front cover, it may show that the magazine could relate to r n  b, however the fact that the title is "Brit Asian" shows that the magazine relates to the Bhangra music he sings. He is dressed all in black which may connote mystery, especially as he is wearing glasses. Also, it shows that the colour black is versatile, therefore can relate to both genres of music as they're so opposite to one another. The colour gold has also been used in order to contrast against the black, as both colours look good together. Also, the colour gold connotes royalty and shows importance, therefore the colour reflects the importance of Jay Sean in both the British and Asian music culture.

As the image of Jay Sean is in front of the title, it shows that the magazine "Brit Asian" is quite popular because if people look at the magazine, they will instantly know what magazine it is. There isn't any strap lines included on the front cover, as it only includes the main story; "Jay Sean" Also, it shows a quote from him, which is in italics showing it is importance, even though the font isn't that big. This is in order for it to stand out from the rest of the text s it is in a different font. This shows that the magazine revolves around him and his music. In addition, there is also a puff included, in the bottom right hand corner, along with a skyline. All of the text used except for the mast head is in capital letters, wheres as the mast head is in lower case letters. This is to show that even though the mast head is in lower case letters, it still stands out more than the rest of the copy.
